Business area intermodal transport

Future transport will be "intermodal" and for goods the railway will be of great importance. It will be a question of survival for Swedish industry, how well it can be made to work. Otherwise Swedish industry will leave the country.

Fully automated terminals a decisive factor

The key to intermodal transport is to keep the cost of transferring unit loads low. It must also be fast and without CO2 emissions.

Our goal can be summarized in a few short lines.

Target area 1
All freight transport over 150 km must be transferred to rail. The EU has set a requirement that 75% of all road transport over 300 km must be transferred to rail by 2030. We are working towards a narrower limit.

Away from endpoint traffic

It is important that we move away from the end-to-end traffic that currently prevails in intermodal transport. This has of course arisen due to the expensive transhipment costs.

Target area 2.
Dense terminal locations and terminals should be located with a maximum distance of 150 km between terminals. To easily move the goods ahead and to move away from today's end-point traffic and towards a line traffic situation.

Below is a video showing a simple terminal located at a simple siding. A terminal that can be placed anywhere along a train line. This makes the cost of building a terminal very low.
