We were in England to help them create an English version (old version)
We helped produce an English version of the CCT, called the Maxi-link, and it got to be a little shorter and catered to their large volume of 30 foot unit loads. Together we developed a self-sufficient trailer for testing and evaluation.
Margaret Thatcher's privatization of the railways stopped everything. We worked together with BR (Bristich Rail) large research station in Derby with over 2000 employees. On Monday morning everyone was unemployed and great chaos ensued and everything was stopped.
The trailer that was built with the guidelines that were pointed out would apply to transport and handling in England. The trailer would be self-sufficient in electrical power and hydraulics needed to regulate the trailer.
Then it was important that any tractor could be used at the various terminals. We had time to pick up the trailer and also test drive it before everything suddenly stopped.
Here are the arms that transition to the truck and then to the fingered ant. We see the corner of a 10 foot container that was also tested to transfer to and from Myran.
A structure had been made so that everyone would get a better overview of what is happening during the movements. In the foreground is the computer equipment responsible for the tests. The equipment contained a lot of wire strain gauges that measured the movements in the material. .
We performed many tests to see that everything worked
Could the drivers drive up alongside the jvg wagon to be able to carry out the transfer. We took 30 randomly selected drivers and placed them in the tow truck and asked them to position the vehicle. 28 of them succeeded on the first attempt. We found the results convincing.
Now there were aids in the vehicle for positioning, but everything was new for the drivers. A good result!
The only Swedish CCT car that existed was taken over to England and repainted in the colors used for the investment in container transport.
The picture also shows one of the additional frames on the jvg wagon and it is painted in white. It is centrally located on the jvg wagon, but the frames must cover the entire jvg wagon.
In the picture an of the participants in the group learning to handle the CCT Equipment.
The CCT car arrives at a regular terminal
Here, the CCT car has arrived at a terminal that is very centrally located and has very limited available space. One can understand BR's interest in CCT that moved unit loads laterally and did not need large trucks to be able to transfer a unit load.
We he carried out a lot of tests before Margaret Thatcher's blockade stopped everything.
Terminals in England often limited in areas.

Signed together with two researchers!
Signed on the left together with two civil engineers at BR's research station in Derby. The English are easy to work with and we have a nice and rewarding project together.
In the picture you can see the sleds with the cushions inflated and they form the base that lifts all the unit loads. The yellow construction can replace the truck in the test bench. We had also connected advanced electronics to monitor all the loads on the test equipment's construction.
The CCT team at British Rail's research station in Derby.
The picture shows the Team that had been formed at BR's research station in Derby. Very talented and competent people. Open to new ideas and together we picked out the self-sufficient trailer that worked with the CCT technology.
Everything came to a drastic end because of the politicians. The privatization of BR resulted in all people being laid off and on Monday 2,000 people were out of work. Only politicians can make such stupid and unwise decisions. Unfortunately, they are everywhere.
